Conrad Chao, MD

Photo Conrad R. Chao, MD, is the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the OB/GYN Residency Program Director at the University of California, San Francisco, Fresno Medical Education Program. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He then served his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and completed fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Physiology at Loma Linda University and Oregon Health Sciences University. He served on the faculty of Columbia University, where he directed a unit of the NIH MFM Network, and UCLA, conducting research in basic neuroscience focusing on the control of cerebral blood flow and metabolism in the fetus as well as serving as Director of the Perinatal Clinical Research Center at Harbor-UCLA. Subsequently he joined the Maternal and Fetal Medicine faculty at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose and Maricopa Integrated Health System in Phoenix prior to his present position at UCSF. His current research involves the management of post-dates pregnancy, Doppler velocity profiling of the fetal circulation, retinal findings in diabetic pregnancy, and clinical application of the Neoventa ST segment analysis fetal heart rate monitor.
