Shabbir Ahmad, DVM, MS, PhD, is the acting Division Chief of Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health Programs and Center for Family Health at the California Department of Public Health. Before joining the California Department of Public Health, Dr. Ahmad worked at UC Davis as post-doctoral researcher and assistant professor (research) for almost 13 years. Also, Dr. Ahmad is the Manager of the Human Stem Research Unit of the MCAH Programs. At the MCAH Programs, Dr. Ahmad leads a team of public health professionals, researchers and analysts who provide the scientific base for identifying areas of concern in maternal, adolescent and child health, developing and targeting interventions appropriate to address those concerns, and measuring the impacts of those interventions.
