The American Academy of Family Physicians is a national medical organization, representing more than 94,000 family physicians, family medicine residents, and medical students nationwide. Founded in 1947, its mission has been to preserve and promote the science and art of family medicine and to ensure high-quality, cost-effective health care for patients of all ages. The mission of the AAFP is to improve the health of patients, families, and communities by serving the needs of members with professionalism and creativity. The AFFP works to achieve this mission through the strategic priorities of advocacy, practice enhancement, and education.
