
Valerie Cape, joined CMQCC in 2008 as a program assistant and in 2015 was promoted to a program manager. Valerie has been involved in all initiatives of CMQCC’s work. She led the California Partnership for Maternal Safety (CPMS) project, a large-scale collaborative for birthing hospitals throughout the state of California to implement safety bundles for obstetric hemorrhage and preeclampsia. She was also responsible for coordinating the Collaborative to Support Vaginal Birth and Reduce Primary Cesareans with several cohorts of California hospitals. Valerie was instrumental in the development and/or revision and finalization of the Maternal Sepsis, Obstetric Hemorrhage, and Hypertensives Disorders of Pregnancy Toolkits. In her role, she also works with CMQCC team members to facilitate evaluation and completion of projects, including educational webinars and outreach conferences. She enjoys learning about all aspects of perinatal, equitable care and has worked long-term with many of CMQCC’s clinical volunteers throughout the state. Valerie received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
