Congratulations to Leslie Kowalewski & Emily McCormick

Please join CMQCC in congratulating Leslie Kowalewski and Emily McCormick on their promotions!

Leslie Kowalewski

Stanford School of Medicine leaders appointed Leslie Kowalewski (pictured above on left) as the new executive director of the Perinatal Outcomes Collaborative. Leslie, formerly the CMQCC administrative director, was promoted to the inaugural executive director role at the end of 2022. In the new role, Leslie retains administrative leadership with CMQCC and is working to strengthen collaboration across CMQCC, the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC) and the Prematurity Research Center – all housed in the Stanford School of Medicine.

“I’m thrilled to continue building on the strengths of the three organizations - CMQCC, CPQCC and the March of Dimes Prematurity Research Center - each have strong missions and tremendously talented leaders and teams. I’ve spent many years working to improve outcomes for moms and babies. I look forward to partnering with the community and our stakeholders on equity and integrating the patient voice into all efforts to improve birth outcomes," Leslie said regarding the new leadership role.

Emily McCormick

CMQCC leaders selected Emily McCormick (pictured above on right) as the associate director of the Maternal Data Center, replacing Anne Castles who is set to retire in April 2023. Emily will be responsible for oversight and management of all MDC hospital education and outreach, and MDC enhancements, builds, and expansion. Emily has worked with the MDC since 2019 as a program manager. In that role, she worked with member hospitals to support their use of the MDC to inform quality improvement and served as the primary liaison for hospitals in the Pacific Northwest, the Kaiser Permanente System and California’s Central Valley. She had also led all MDC education efforts and spearheaded other successful projects, such as expanding the breastfeeding metrics and severe maternal morbidity tools available in the MDC.
